Topic: No more complaining about bugs! :)

Over the past few months, I have received countless complaints about the boards system we were using, BBPress.
It seemed like every few days I was having to go through and fix bugs, and it got pretty old.
To make matters worse, some of the bugs were making it impossible for members of the community to even post on our forums!
Thus, I have decided (yet again) to restart the boards to scratch.
Please re-register on these boards and help us get this community active again.

It has avatars, but only seems to support 60x60 pixels. I'm trying to figure out where to change that now.

Well 60x60 is fine for me, but with gravatar i wouldnt have to upload or externally host another avatar wink.
We had gravatar's on BBPress as well, and im pretty sure there is an extension for flux/punbb as well.

Hosting the avatars ourselves is probably faster than using Gravatar. I could make it even faster if I were to off-load hosting them onto Sliqua's content delivery network. But at this point, I don't see the justification to do that! It's definitely on the table for future use tho. cool

To add to that... I'm trying to stick as close to the upstream (FluxBB) code base as possible. It seems that with every piece of forum software we've used in the past, there has been minor issues upgrading that breaks things.. Prior to switching this over today I noticed that Gravatars were broken on the BBPress forums - I hadn't touched that code in a while...

Well, that's the beauty of extensions in 1.3, they run on their own and hook into the system calls :p.
An extension isnt a custom hack, its a installable, upgradable item.

Anyhow, ill upload it up here then when im on my main machine.

i'd left boards about a month ago, because i was in science/education camp, where i have read some lectures about programming and radioelectronics, but the place, where it was organized, is so far from civilization, and there was no internet.... but so, this have reached its end, and i'm back home -- and back on oceanius smile
